But after all the festivals, parties and vacations you may have had this year, you’re probably wondering what to do about your fitness.
Have you ever heard of bootcamps? At first it might sound way more difficult than it actually is. We’ll explain what bootcamps are and why a bootcamp vacation is just right for you!
What is a bootcamp?
A fitness bootcamp is sort of a group training program. Gyms, personal trainers or other organizations offer this on a regular or even ongoing basis. The goal of the programs is to build strength and fitness through a variety of exercises.
The term “bootcamp” is originated from the colloquial term for basic military training in the United States. Fitness camps are also held according to the general rules and measures of the military units.
A mixture of functional training, strength training and bodyweight training.
What are the different types of bootcamps?
Bootcamps can be distinguished between different types. The main variants can be found here:
Regular Outdoor Bootcamps.
On the one hand, there are regular outdoor bootcamps, which take place once or twice a week.
Day Bootcamps
The second variant are day bootcamps. Which take place for example on a weekend and in a nice location. Throughout the day different workshops and/or other workouts are being offered.
Week Bootcamps
Another variant of bootcamps runs over a short period of five to eight weeks, participants usually train once or twice a week.
What to expect from an outdoor bootcamp?
Bootcamp exercises consist of a combination of functional training, strength training and bodyweight training. Not only individual muscles are trained, but the entire body’s musculoskeletal system is strengthened. The exercises are mostly performed with the body’s own weight.
Otherwise, not a lot equipment is used, usually only skipping ropes or rubber bands, which can be easily and effortlessly used outdoors. Places like walls, park benches, stairs, bridges and others are used to pull oneself up or jump up or over.
In most cases, the rule is: Exercises need to be done as fast and as often as possible in the given time. The coach motivates the participants to do their best according to their individual abilities.
