MUAY THAI / THAI BOXING
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and translates to “Thai Boxing”. It is an intensive martial art with roots originating from military use dating back to around the 13th century. Muay Thai is known as the “Art of 8 limbs” because it makes use of 8 points of contact (punches, elbows, knees and kicks). This is a key different to other stand-up combat sports, which use only 2 or 4 points of contact (boxing: fists / karate: fists and feet).

BEGINNERS MUAY THAI
The beginners Muay Thai program is designed to cater for guests who have little to no training experience in Muay Thai.

Headed by the very experienced trainer of champions Ajarn Dang, this program focuses on teaching the basic fundamentals of Muay Thai. This includes stance, footwork, basic punches, kicks, knees and elbows and the defences to these techniques.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday there is sparring focusing on boxing in the morning and Muay Thai sparring in the afternoon session. These sparring sessions are controlled and focus on correct technique, with each student wearing protective equipment and being supervised by the trainers.

Every Saturday, students are taught the Wai Kru Ram Muay by the trainers.

The intermediate Muay Thai program is for students who have some previous training experience and already know the basics of the art. The intensity of the training is increased and some more complex techniques and combinations are taught.

The head trainer of the intermediate program is Kru Nai, a former Lumpinee champion who’s training style is hard but fun.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday there is sparring focusing on boxing in the morning and Muay Thai sparring in the afternoon session. These sparring sessions are controlled and focus on correct technique, with each student wearing protective equipment and being supervised by the trainers.

Every Saturday students are taught the Wai Kru Ram Muay by the trainers.

ADVANCED MUAY THAI
Our Advanced Class focuses on Fight Fitness and Ring Skills and is for people with a good amount of experience and those looking to prepare for a Fight

The Advanced Muay Thai program caters to students who already have a good amount of training experience and also to people with professional fight experience. This program is much more challenging than the beginner and intermediate programs, with a focus on developing fight fitness and ring skills. This is the perfect program for students looking to prepare for a fight.

The training is headed by Kru Robert “The Terminator” who has many years of fighting experience and is renowned for his toughness. The trainers will push you hard to make you stronger both physically and mentally.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday there is sparring focusing on boxing in the morning and Muay Thai sparring in the afternoon session. YOGA
Anyone can do yoga. You don’t need to be able to tie yourself into a pretzel or spend a year in silent devotion to gain all the amazing benefits. If you can breathe, you can do yoga. It’s that simple

Wanna train yoga in Thailand? After hard workouts involving throwing punches and hauling tires, our yoga brings an element of quiet strength to Tiger Muay Thai & MMA. Focusing primarily on the Hatha, Vinyasa Power Flow and power yoga, our classes are suitable for all levels regardless of fitness or flexibility.

About the Instructor and what she brings
Our instructor Prakasit (Note) takes you through an experience that utilizes all that you are – physically, mentally and emotionally. She believes yoga integrates the entire being and opens us up to our fullest potential.

“The problem is that we tend to get stuck in our mind, our body and our heart” explains Prakasit who started teaching yoga in 2011. “Hatha yoga offers a way to experience this integration along a path involving very specific practices that purify the body, calm the mind and open the heart. Vinyasa flow makes your body move with flow breath and flow Asana or posture, while power yoga makes you body stronger and develops your muscles. Participants can expect an open and friendly experience at Tiger Muay Thai & MMA’s yoga classes without the need to feel perfect. Prakasit has a soft spot for beginners and believes she facilitates positive change on a daily basis.

Yoga brings you back to you…where all the good stuff is. Anyone can do yoga. You don’t need to be able to tie yourself into a pretzel or spend a year in silent devotion to gain all the amazing benefits. If you can breathe, you can do yoga. It’s that simple.

When asked what she thinks about the fighters who may scoff at her class, Prakasit simples chuckles while saying, “If you think you know yoga, or have never tried it because it seemed too woo-woo, chant-filled, mystical, and Om-centered, then you should come to my class! Yoga is something both cooler and simpler, and it’s fierce in what it can do for your life and health.”

COMBAR STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Tiger’s own Combat Strength and Conditioning is a world class performance enhancement program designed for competitive fighters and athletes.

The class is non-contact, using training methods to increase strength, speed, power, endurance and energy system conditioning, with the aim to prepare the participants for the physical demands that combat sports (MMA, Muay Thai, Brazilian-JiuJitsu, Wrestling and Western Boxing) place upon its athletes.

This extremely high paced and high intensity class is for athletes with an advanced level of fitness and training experience.

The class begins with dynamic warmups, mobility-based movements, and then we get into the class emphasis of the day which varies from more strength work to energy system training. Followed by a cool down and stretch, as well as a discussion about application of exercises and principles as it pertains to combat sports.

If you are looking for a challenging class that will enhance your overall athleticism, then this is it.

Please note regarding Wednesdays Pool session: transport leaves 9:15am from front office, in case of bad weather class will be held on site at the TMT Fitness Area.

KICKBOXING (K1) STRIKING FOR MMA
Kickboxing (K1) Striking for MMA focusses primarily of the stand up striking techniques of punching and kicking. Unlike traditional Muay Thai the use of elbow strikes and clinching is not used:

In the Kickboxing (K1) Striking for MMA class, participants will learn and practice the many various striking techniques used in the sport of kickboxing, or K1. These techniques are used very effectively for the sport of MMA as well, so at Tiger we teach this class with these ideas in mind. The instruction of this class focuses primarily on the stand up striking techniques of punching and kicking.

Unlike traditional Muay Thai the use of elbow strikes and clinching is not used. Kickboxing tends to utilize techniques from many various stand up based martial arts, such as karate and boxing. The difference participants will notice is the increased use of punching techniques as opposed to Muay thai, whose primary attacks are strikes using kicks and knees.

The beginning class will focus on techniques used in basic kickboxing, like punching combinations and mixing hand strikes with leg attacks. The advanced class will focus on more advanced techniques, sparring drills, and conditioning drills.

*Novice participants or those with little experience are encouraged to join the beginner class, while professionals and higher skilled individuals the advanced session.

MUAY BORAN
Learn the Ancient Art of Muay Boran by one of the few teachers of still spreading the artThe Muay Boran classes at Tiger Muya Thai is held by Kru Oh, one of the few teachers of muay boran still spreading the art. He has well over 20 years of experience in Thai martial arts having trained with many masters of different muay boran and krabi krabong styles including Kru Pra, Ajarn Thong and Ajarn Preang. Kru Oh has tested his techniques in many fights including “kard chuek” (fists wrapped in hemp rope) fights and MMA competitions (where he won the Naksu 60kg tournament).Kru Oh is extremely passionate about teaching Thai martial arts to his students at Tiger Muay Thai, emphasizing the positive effects they bring to all aspects of a person’s life, not just in fighting in the ring or street. In his classes Kru Oh teaches a wide variety of muay boran techniques and their practical applications.About Muay Boran
Muay Boran (translated into English as “ancient boxing”) is the term used to encompass the various styles of Thai martial arts before they were modernized in the early 20th century with the introduction of rules, western boxing rings and equipment. Muay boran utilizes all kinds of striking attacks as well as joint locks, throws and even ground grappling. Muay boran does not have one uniform style. Rather, each area of Thailand developed their own unique fighting style. For example the fighting style of Korat province in north eastern Thailand is known as “Muay Korat”, “Muay Lopburi” is a style from central Thailand and another style from north Thailand is called “Muay Thasao”. Perhaps the most famous style is “Muay Chaiya”, a southern style still taught to the Thai army to this day.Muay boran was originally developed for self defense and also taught to the Thai military for use in warfare. Matches between exponents of the art then began to be held. These soon became an integral part of Thai culture with fights being held at festivals and fighters from the different areas of Thailand testing their styles against each other. Fighters began to wrap their hands and forearms in hemp rope which not only protected their fists from injury but also made their strikes more likely to cut an opponent. Muay boran fighters were highly respected and the best were enlisted into the King’s royal guard. The most famous muay boran practitioner was Nai Khanomtom. In 1774 he fought the 10 best Burmese fighters one after the other, knocking them all out. During the 1920’s-30’s King Rama VII modernized the Thai martial arts competitions, introducing referees, boxing gloves, rounds and western boxing rings. Many of the traditional muay boran techniques were banned or were not practical with the addition of the new rules, and so muay boran went into decline.

KRABI KRABONG
Krabi Krabong is a weapons-based martial art originating in Thailand which can easily be applied to self-defense situations, using everyday objects as weapons

Be sure to attend the Krabi Krabong classes at Tiger Muay Thai with Kru Oh. The class is open to all Tiger Muay Thai & MMA camp guests. With 20 years of experience in Thai martial arts and having trained with many masters of different muay boran and krabi krabong styles including Kru Pra, Ajarn Thong and Ajarn Preang, Kru Oh is one of the most respected teachers in Thailand.About Krabi Krabong
Krabi Krabong is a weapons-based martial art originating in Thailand. It began with the Siamese military and was used by warriors on the battlefield, often alongside Muay Boran. Warriors fought for survival, thus combat techniques at the time were especially deadly, utilizing spears, swords, knives and arrows. The main weapons in Krabi Krabong are actually in the name – the curved sword (krabi), and the staff (krabong). When unarmed, Krabi Krabong employs a variety of strikes, locks, holds, kicks and throws as well. If weapons broke for example, battle would resume using these deadly unarmed techniques. Krabi Krabong is therefore not merely some weapons exhibition, but rather a complete battlefield art teaching principles of deadly combat. It can further be applied to everyday self-defense, using everyday objects as weapons.Other traditional weapons used in Krabi Krabong include the Daab (single-edge sword), Loh (shield), Plawng (long staff), Ngaaw (glaive), and Daaab Song Mue (two-handed swords). Effective technique in Krabi Krabong is a combination of both weapons use and striking. Weapons each have their own attacking styles, while complemented with kick-based striking for further attack and defense. Each weapon has its own dance, with 108 total dances in Krabi Krabong. The dance aspect teaches grace and elegance, with essential movements of combat.

BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU | BJJ
The BJJ classes at TMT are perfect for anyone looking to grasp a general understanding of “ground fighting” while discovering Submission Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

BJJ focuses on using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. Since Brazilian JiuJitsu focuses on submissions without the use of striking, BJJ is for everyone of all ages and abilities! Training BJJ at Tiger allows you to focus on learning the many different positions, techniques, and skills required to become successful in this extremely popular martial art.In the Gi classes, participants are required to wear the traditional BJJ uniform called a “Gi”. Techniques in this class are taught in the traditional methods of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in which the use of a gi is necessary. It is often agreed upon by the highest ranking grapplers and BJJ practitioners in the world that practicing BJJ while using the Gi is an essential part of becoming an elite level grappler. While practicing BJJ while using the gi, the student can then achieve a “belt ranking”. The color of one’s belt reflects their level of skill in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.Class traditionally starts with a warm up, cardio training, technical training, sparring, and cool down. The 8:30-10:00 Monday and Wednesday class is the Nogi Pro Grappling Class for purple belt and higher and/or by invite only. Tuesday and Thrusday it is Gi for all levels 9:00-10:00. The 10:00 – 11:00 class is Nogi (wearing a Gi is optional) and for those who want to work more on the technical aspects of their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu game. In the sport of MMA, many students choose to not wear the gi in preparations for specializing in their sport. In these classes techniques will focus on using BJJ without wearing a Gi.The 18:15-19:00 afternoon class is focusing on the fundamentals and suitable for beginners of the sport, the 19:00 – 20:00 class is a bit more advanced but still all levels are welcome. Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon classes we train without the Gi and Tuesday and Thursday in the Gi.Gi’s are available for rental and purchase in the TMT gear store. A student may wear his own Gi if they would like.

Due to the physical nature of the fitness holiday, clients often ask us what kind of results they will see after their stay. This is a difficult question to answer because everyone is different. People have different metabolisms, and ultimately it comes down to how hard you work and how long you stay for. We are confident you will see an improvement, even if you go for a short period of time. Your stay will kickstart you into a healthier and fitter life, giving you a solid foundation on which you can continue your training back home. You will learn all the tools and techniques you need in order to continue to improve.

Can I join the fitness holiday even if I am travelling alone? Yes, of course. Actually, about 70% of our guests travel by themselves. For this camp, almost 80% of our guests are solo travellers. The island is a very friendly place with lots of open-minded people, so meeting other athletes and fellow travellers is super easy. Especially on campsite, you will meet other people during and in between fitness sessions. So don't worry about it! We encourage you to just take a leap of faith and allow yourself to be surprised by an amazing fitness holiday.
Do I need to bring anything in particular? We recommend bringing plenty of sportswear. However, laundry service is available (for an extra charge) so you can wash your clothes whenever necessary. Also, please bring sunscreen and a hat if you’d like to take part in the beach workouts. Most importantly, don't forget your passport. It has to be valid at least 6 months from time of arrival.
Arrival Date and Travel Duration Minimum travel duration is 7 days / 6 nights. However, you are more than welcome to stay as long as you want - there is no fixed arrival date nor a fixed duration for this fitness holiday. Simply select your preferred arrival and departure date from the booking calendar, and proceed with the booking. *For stays longer than 30 days, check visa regulations.
Program For this fitness holiday, there is not a fixed schedule nor a set program. This means that you can lie on the beach all day or take part in as many fitness sessions as you like. If you want to add additional components to your program (e.g. personal training sessions), you can do so during the booking process. You can also add additional services after the booking process is complete. We are very flexible and will assist you with anything you could want.
Can I do other activities as well? Yes absolutely, one of the reps can help you add on trips locally. While one of our favourite activities is a morning hike / run to Big Buddha to catch the sunrise, there are so many more things to do in Phuket. You can also visit temples, explore a variety of beaches, go shopping at one of the night markets and much more! There are endless possibilities. However, as the vibe in Phuket is very easy going, we really recommend not making too many plans beforehand.
Availability On our booking calendar you will see all the dates we have available in the upcoming months. We make sure to constantly update all availabilities to make the booking process as smooth as possible. In general, if dates are shown as available, we can organize your holiday. However, please note that it is always possible that selected dates could become unavailable due to very dynamic booking procedures. For this reason, we will contact you via email and WhatsApp after your booking to confirm availability. This will take up to 48h. In case we cannot provide your chosen package in combination with a certain room at your requested time, we will offer you an alternative option: either in a comparable room or for a slightly different travel period. Of course, if we cannot provide you with a PERFECT option, you may cancel your trip at any time with no costs. If you have any questions regarding availability or your desired travel dates, just email us at info@travelling-athletes.com.
Christmas & New Years Our fitness holidays are available 365 days a year - including Christmas and New Years. Please be aware that Christmas & New Years is one of the busiest times in Phuket, Thailand. So make sure that you book plenty early. We will do our best to assist you. Note that there might be a slight variance regarding the program on some days. For example, on Christmas Day, there will be no training or yoga, but we do make up for it with additional sessions throughout the week. The same is applicable for New Year’s Day.
Booking Process After your booking, you will immediately receive an email from us summarizing your booking. You don't need to do anything at this moment. In the following days, we will check hotel availability, as well as all other aspects of your tour. After we confirm everything with our partners, we will send you another email to confirm the booking. This email also includes the invoice and a travel insurance paper. You can then easily pay your invoice within 14 days. Multiple payment options are available. If you want to pay for your trip later, just contact us — we will make sure to find a good option for you. Once we have received payment, you will receive another email from us with a confirmation of payment, a booklet including travel information, and more.⇾ At this point you can just look forward to your fitness holiday in Phuket. *If you have any questions or want to change anything in regard to your holiday, you can always contact your personal travel agent.
